Meeting the Magician

On Friday night, I went to a magic show at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre.

Raymond Crowe performed a combination of hand-shadows, mime and magic tricks with an underlying comedic focus. He describes himself as an “unusualist” because he doesn’t feel that he fits into any one particular category of performer.

His most famous work is a clip that was posted on Youtube.

This video clip has had over 1.5 million views and created enough interst for Raymond Crowe to be invited to perform on Letterman.

When I found that he was coming to town, I wanted to meet with him and interview him as research for article. Fortuantely, I was able to organise an interview with him prior to the show.

I found that he offered some excellent insights into the magical world of magic as well as some interesting anecdotes. I have uploaded the transcript of most of my interview. It is on a separate page called Raymond Crowe Transcript.
